Heartspace Presents – Community Yoga

I am home. During my travels, I could’t help but notice that the theme of Community emerged everywhere I went. Community was created in a Girls Writing Workshop I co-led, which expanded as each presenter came into the space and then the larger public attended the closing celebration and reading.

Next, while on vacation the theme of community emerged again. Learning about the founders of Hershey and Heinz and their concern for the overall wellbeing of their factory workers. Then I saw a Mr. Rogers exhibit and went to Randyland. It’s an Art Museum, that is more of an art installation that is evolving since the artist continues to add on to it. The intention of this particular site is to be happy and allow happiness to emerge. Come together in community and be accepting of everyone.

All of this was poetic as HeartSpace was created to build community in ways that many people long for and need. As we continue to step out in the the community to build safe spaces for people to come together a new idea emerged.

Around 2008-2009, I was interested in yoga and very intimidated by it. I had a lot of uncertainties, I didn’t know what type of yoga class to take, the poses looked intimidating, I was afraid I would hurt myself and I had many questions and assumptions about it.

It wasn’t until 2013, when I pursued a work-life balance, that I started practicing yoga. My first class was a gentle yoga class and it was a great place for me to start. Yoga is one of my passions and asana (physical poses), breath work and meditation (which are all aspects of yoga) changed my life.

As a certified yoga teacher, I feel drawn to create a safe space for people to practice yoga. I am excited to announce Somos Yoga (We Are Yoga) space for everybody and body-type to practice yoga.

If you are curious about yoga, new to yoga or experienced, you are all welcome here.
