HeartSpace was created to build bridges in our community, create a space for people to share their stories and create a space for people to connect face to face and in person.
When one person shares a story not only is that story heard, but often times the essence, lesson or theme of a story is often relatable and similar to someone else’s experience or story. That connection is what makes council practice so profound and beautiful.
This video reminded us of how the sharing of stories can create space for people to connect in ways they may have never imagined.
Note: In council everyone is invited to share the stories they feel comfortable sharing. Silence is also honored in the space.
Our June Council will be Sunday, June 24th @ 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
We are happy to announce that Phoenix, Arizona will be our new home for Heart Space. Our May Council will be Sunday, May 27th @ 5:30pm – 7:30pm.
On April 5th, the Los Angeles council that I participated in discussed the theme of Disappointment.
We each described how disappointment felt within our body.
When it was my turn to share I said:
Disappointment feels like a loss of innocence and betrayal and not knowing how to navigate it.
In March, I co-hosted/ facilitated a council in Los Angeles. The theme was sacrifice. We each gave our own definition of the word and shared our own stories of sacrifice.
One prompt: Tell us a story about a time when someone made a sacrifice for you.
A line of truth that I spoke:
I can’t think of just one example. I can think of a lifetime of examples when I think of my mom.
